Many podcasters have approached me about interviewing famous guests. A well-known podcaster, for example, expressed his desire to interview "celebrities," hoping their fame would bring more attention to his podcast.
I get it. It's easy to think "fame" will rub off on what we do or give us credibility or authority.
But fame shouldn't be your top priority when booking guests. Instead, consider what will interest your audience. Listeners are often more captivated by helpful content than by celebrity interviews they can find elsewhere.
Do we really need another interview with Elon Musk or Gary Vaynerchuk?
Your interview, maybe, because your personality and perspective are why people would listen.
Don't worry about the fame of your guests or how they compare to other podcasters' lineups. Focus on delivering valuable content to your listeners through engaging interviews, whoever they're with.
